Obesity is the most common disease in dogs and cats. Just like in humans, carrying extra weight can put a strain on the heart and joints and can lead to metabolic diseases, all of which can decrease your pet’s quality of life and even shorten their life span. Being as passionate as we are about whole patient care, we want to help our furry friends shed the extra weight and live their best lives. Enroll your dog in camp Monday/Weds/Fri from 8-6, where they can enjoy the physical and social benefits of a group exercise class that is focused on weight loss. We take our patients through controlled exercises, use the water treadmill when appropriate, and make dietary recommendations. Click below to join the class and let us help take your dog from flab to fab!
Learn more about our Curvy Canine Camps!
Studies have shown that overweight dogs, even by as little as 2 lbs, can have an average lifespan of 2 years less than a dog of ideal body condition. This is attributed to the fact that excess weight can lead to painful joints as well as an increased risk of heart disease and other medical conditions like diabetes.

We hear this one all the time from our clients when their pet reaches a certain age: “he’s starting to slow down a little.” There are many reasons this starts to happen as your pet ages, but we refuse blindly write this off as a normal progression of age that we need to accept. Many times, what our older friends need is more gentile-controlled activity, stretching, and weight loss. They lose muscle mass and add fat more easily as they age, so a change in diet and a specific focus on strengthening and stretching muscles can do a lot to keep your pet limber and comfortable with fewer drugs. If your dog is eight years or older, enroll them in the Golden Oldies camp for a Tues/Thurs 8-6 program where we work through group exercises, stretching activities, make diet recommendations and use the water treadmill where appropriate. Click below to join the class, and together let’s keep our older friends comfortable and happy longer!
